
Michel Moore served as the 57th Chief of Police for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) from 2018 until his retirement in 2024.
In retirement, Chief Moore remains acutely engaged in public-safety leadership, serving as a senior advisor to the Committee for Safe and Secure Elections and 21Century Solutions, a member of the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee for Arnold Ventures, and through other professional and civil engagements supporting the policing profession.
Over the course of his career with the LAPD, Chief Moore advanced through the ranks, working various assignments, and promoting to the highest levels within the organization. During more than 40 years of service, Chief Moore was positioned in critical roles in the pursuit of crime reduction, achieving compliance with a Federal Consent Decree, crafting and implementing police use of force reforms, modernizing technological systems, and improving the diversity and wellbeing of the Department’s workforce.
Chief Moore completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He has completed advanced coursework in emergency management, counter-terrorism, conflict management and process improvement.
