Committee for Safe and Secure Elections Applauds Election Officials and Law Enforcement for Their Dedication Amidst Unprecedented Challenges
Washington, D.C. — Safe and secure elections are the hallmark of American democracy. As all polls have closed around the country, the Committee for Safe and Secure Elections (CSSE) extends deep gratitude to our nation’s election officials and law enforcement for their unwavering commitment to administering a safe and secure election amid one of the most challenging environments in recent history.
Election Day presented a unique set of challenges with new threats and heightened pressures on those tasked with ensuring a safe and accessible voting process. The cooperative efforts of law enforcement and election officials, years-long preparation, and coordination across all levels of government have proven to be critical in the face of unacceptable assaults on the election process. All of us should protect voters, election officials and their families from threats.
We acknowledge the diligence of election officials and the essential role of our partners in law enforcement, whose coordinated efforts upheld the security of polling places, even in the face of non-credible yet disruptive bomb threats. Their vigilance today is a testament to their dedication to our democratic process, and we look forward to their continued partnership in the days ahead.
