Tina Barton is a Senior Election Expert with The Elections Group. She joined The Elections Group with over 32 years of government experience, serving at the federal, county, and local levels. The last 17 years of her career have been focused on election administration. She holds a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Before joining The Elections Group, Tina was the Senior Program Advisor to the Executive Director at the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. In this role, she hired and oversaw the first-ever Clearinghouse Division team of Senior Election Subject Matter Experts. Over the last year, their division produced nearly 30 resources providing best practices on topics like Chain of Custody and checklists related to the Personal Security of Election Officials.
As the City Clerk of Rochester Hills, Tina was appointed by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to the Election Security Commission. The United States Conference of Mayors appointed her to the EAC Board of Advisors. Ms. Barton’s office received a 2018 Clearie Award from the EAC for Election Innovation. That same year, Rochester Hills was the first city in Michigan to conduct a Risk Limiting Audit pilot. In 2017, Leadership Oakland selected Tina as the 2017 Leader of Leaders in Public Service. Tina was also the MAMC 2016 City Clerk of the Year.
She is a member of the Women Officials’ Network and Women of Tomorrow. Tina is a Board Member for Crossroads for Youth and Leadership Oakland and a Women of Tomorrow mentor in the Detroit Public Schools.
Tina has been married to her husband Mark for 32 years. She is the proud mom of Taylor and Michaela and a doting Grammy to Carter. She has two spoiled large and loud fur babies.
