Justin Smith served three terms as the Sheriff of Larimer County, Colorado and has 35 years of law enforcement experience.
Sheriff Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Wichita State University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado’s Graduate School of Public Affairs.
In addition, he is a graduate of the 223rd session of the FBI National Academy and the 102nd session of the National Sheriffs Institute.
He is a part president of the County Sheriffs of Colorado and a member of the executive board of the National Sheriffs Association, where he is currently the co-chair of the Homeland Security Committee.
Sheriff Smith has been a member of numerous local, state and national professional associations and boards as well as a variety of local non-profit boards.
In addition to his work as a sheriff, he also served as an adjunct professor of Criminal Justice at Colorado State University from 2004-2010.
