
Kevin McMahan serves as the Assistant Secretary of State for Washington. In this role, he collaborates with leaders at the local, state, and federal levels to safeguard the integrity of Washington’s elections through strengthened cybersecurity, strategic communications, and expanded civic participation—fostering greater public trust in the democratic process.
Prior to his current position, Kevin completed a distinguished 31-year military career, commanding at multiple levels and deploying to Iraq twice. He is a graduate of the Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he earned a master’s degree in homeland security and defense. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Idaho and was a U.S. Army War College Fellow at Texas A&M University.
