Nate Blumenthal serves as the Deputy Director for a nonprofit program working to counter hybrid threats to society, including to core democratic functions such as electoral process. Nate was the Director for RESCU, the newly created Rapid Response Election Security Cyber Unit in the Colorado Secretary of State’s office. Prior to joining the Colorado Department of State, Blumenthal served as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Counter Terrorism for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he led the development and implementation of strategies to counter a range of threats. Before that, he was Director for DHS’ Countering Foreign Influence Task Force, which combatted the threat of foreign influence in the 2018 election, and served two tours as a Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Council and as a Senior Analyst at the National Counterterrorism Center and Department of Defense. In these roles, he worked closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement entities. Nate is the recipient of the Director of National Intelligence’s Exceptional Achievement Award for analysis on terrorism threats.
